Flowers, the Garden & A Day With Mom

Thought you'd like to see what we've been working on in the yard:

The upper left is the peach Gerbera daisies that have finally decided to bloom.  The upper right is the container of mini-petunia like flowers (I forgot exactly what they're called).  Lower center is my gorgeous bougainvilla.  The lower left is a shot of my "Contender" snap beans.  They are really taking off.  The lower right is an image of our "Jackson Wonder" speckled butter beans.  The corn, okra, purple hull peas, squash, turnips and tomatoes are all growing rapidly.  I hope our garden will be productive this year!

What are you doing today, dear readers?  I am getting ready for a special "girls day" with my mom!  It has been a while since we have had time together- just us.  We plan to go shopping at the nearby outlet mall and a few antique shops, then have an enjoyable lunch before picking Jocelin up from school.  With my mom along, you never know what goodies we'll find on our shopping excursion!  She loves antique/junque shops, too.

Mom will be expecting me soon, so I'd better hop in the Jeep & head that way.  May you all have a wonderful weekend doing whatever it is that makes your soul sing!
Until next week~

Yoyo Brooch In Progress

Good morning, dear readers!  I hope you had as wonderful a weekend as we had.
We enjoyed a lovely visit with my mother-in-law and got a fair amount of yard work done.  The garden still needs a lot of work, but we'll get to it in the evenings this week.

I did manage to get in a bit of tatting-

This yoyo brooch-in-progress is accented with tatting in Valdani Luxury Pearl Silk #S31.  An antique carved shell button with Swarovski crystals added to the center holes will be attached once the outer tatting is complete.  I'll do one more row of the chains right next to the yoyo, then add another round or two to enlarge the brooch.  What do you think?  Anyone have any suggestions?

The flowers in my yard are really starting to show off- I'm getting so much artistic inspiration just from strolling about the place!
Here is an image of the large wisteria from the front yard:

I'd love some Valdani silk thread in this color!!!

And here is a close-up view of the flowering almond:

My little flowering almond bush is in full bloom and is so fragrant!  I may have to sit in a lawn chair beside it and tat a bit today!

After taking care of housework and a few errands, I hope to sit for a spell in the yard, tat, and think of what to do for an Easter event.  There are several ideas bouncing around in my head.  Stay tuned for the event announcement- it'll be in the next day or two.  Have a great day & until tomorrow~

October Event Goodies

Today is the last day to "Join this Site" and have a chance to win these goodies:

Goodies include:  6 balls of Majestic tatting cotton, 1 spool of Trebizond silk, a tatted tac/pin, a variety of buttons, beads & pearls, a fat quarter of quilting cotton fabric and 17 (yes, 17) 10" squares of quilting cotton fabric!

I will be using a random number generator to select the winner about this time tomorrow morning.  The winner will be sent an email and also be announced on tomorrow's blog post.  To be eligible, one simply needs to be a blog follower.  Click the google "Join this Site" button to the right of the blog just below the poll.  Good luck!

Well, dear readers, what did you do this weekend?  I actually got some work done on my outdoor tatting areas!  As you know, Autumn is my favorite season.  I love the cooler temperatures, leaf and flower colors and just the general way it "feels".

This is an old metal top kitchen table out by the screen tent where I often tat.  My husband showered me with mums, pansies and violas on Saturday!  I was so pleased!!!  Needless to say, I spent the rest of the weekend potting plants and doing lots of raking pine straw and pruning the mock oranges and roses.  I got very little tatting done, but now have a couple of  beautiful areas where I hope to tat lots of wonderful new goodies this week!

This is a close-up of the gorgeous bronze mums Jim gave me.  Wouldn't thread in this color be fabulous!?!

This is a beautiful ruffled pansy that our daughter picked out for my tatting areas.

Well, I am off to post notices of the deadline for this month's event on FB & InTatters.  I hope to get some tatting done later today so I have something interesting to show you tomorrow.

Until then~
Happy Tatting!
